When you have an older Land Rover or Range Rover, it could need its engine overhauled. An overhaul is what is when you must have a lot of the important parts of your vehicle’s engine replaced. This can be more cost-friendly than simply buying a new vehicle, but it needs to be done by somebody experienced, such as our professional team here at Rov-N-Techs!
The Engine
Your vehicle’s engine is the core of your car. It’s an intricate device that works to transform heat from burning gas into the forces that rotate your car’s wheels. All triggered by a spark. The spark ignites a mixture of fuel vapor and compressed air contained in a briefly sealed cylinder, which causes it to quickly burn. While the mixture burns, power is given to the vehicle so it’s able to be driven.
Engine Failure Signs
If you see any of these signs, your vehicle’s engine might be having issues:
- The check engine comes on. If you notice a check light comes on that you haven’t seen before, you might have problems. These lights are attached to sensors that look after everything your car does. If something is off, these lights signal to you what area of the vehicle is having issues. The ‘check engine’ light is upsetting when it appears since it could mean an assortment of things.
- You feel rough jerks. As you drive, you should never be feeling any sort of jerking, lurching, or stalling. Your outing should be effortless and easy, however, if your car is starting to make these jerking movements, it’s usually a sign of engine trouble. This could be caused by failing spark plugs, blocked fuel lines, the primary computer reading the driving condition wrong, or a multitude of other issues.
- You hear loud noises. If you hear a banging or tapping sound while driving, it might be your vehicle trying to notify you that there’s an issue with the engine’s cylinders. This problem happens when fuel ignites prematurely in the combustion chamber of the cylinders. When you hear noises that are unusual for your vehicle, it’s time to bring it into Rov-n-Techs.
- You smell things. When you start to smell things inside your car while driving, that’s an indication of trouble. Various smells could mean there’s a leak of some kind, exhaust coming in where it should not be, and more. When the inside of your car smells the way it does when standing behind it, you should exit the vehicle right away and have it inspected. Vehicles can release carbon monoxide, which is hazardous and can be deadly. If you notice a rubber smell, you could have problems with the hoses or belts. No matter the smell, should it be new, take action on it and take your vehicle to be inspected.
- There’s smoke. Smoke could come from the front and rear of your vehicle. Nevertheless, no matter where it’s coming from, it’s at no time good. Smoke might mean your car might be overheating, oil escaping, or something totally different. If you notice smoke, bring your vehicle in.
An Engine Overhaul
If you notice any of the issues above, it might be time for an engine overhaul. Each make and model is different and other than that, each vehicle’s needs are going to differ depending on how well it was maintained by current and prior owners, the driving conditions it has performed under, etc. Repairs can be expensive and laborious. Here at Rov-n-Techs, our team of professionals are going to go over your vehicle and create a maintenance or repair plan individualized for keeping you safe and comfortable while driving with as few issues as possible.
An engine overhaul could bring new life into your engine. Basically, it is the process of disassembling the present engine and having new internal parts replaced. This entails new cylinders, springs, valves, etc. If you perceive you are having engine issues, don’t hesitate to bring your vehicle in. Putting it off might mean you have to replace the entire engine altogether, which is not only going to leave you carless for a good amount of time, but it is going to cost you a good amount of change too.
